Hi I’m Jacob and I am 17...
“I am doing stuff now, which I wasn’t doing before. I have applied for multiple apprenticeships mostly Hampshire county council. ”
… And this is my story.
The course environment was less school-like than I thought it would be and it was more relaxed.
I am doing stuff now, which I wasn’t doing before. I have applied for multiple apprenticeships mostly Hampshire county council.
I have spent a year doing nothing. I have been playing computer games, lying in bed and sleeping most of the time. My parents would make suggestions and I wasn’t discussing them. Then last week, they said, “let’s go on the website and look at something” and then I did.
I learnt about perspective on the course and it is interesting that there two ways to look at every situation. The first day was the worst bit because it was unmarked territory. Towards the end I would have come on my own.
"When Jacob started the course, he didn’t want to be there, he couldn’t see the point and only really attended as his parents wanted him to. He had no goals at all in life, and struggled with the course activities of making goals or plans for the future; he was very content to stay at home and play computer games indefinitely. Jacob also felt that his physical conditions held him back in many jobs and that he was restricted in his choice for careers. He didn’t really socialize to start with, preferring to keep to himself.
By the end of the course, Jacob was far more sociable; happy speaking to others and even playing card games with the younger boys. After a year of inactivity, on the last week of the course, Jacob applied for a number of apprenticeships."
