Safe New Futures is a small, grassroots charity located within one of the poorest communities in Southampton. We reach out to vulnerable and marginalised young people and adults within the city (and the wider Hampshire area), combating the effects of poverty and unemployment to bring about positive change and hope to run down urban communities.
Using a unique blend of therapeutic support and specialised vocational and pre-employment learning opportunities we help isolated and vulnerable individuals achieve their true potential in life; helping people improve their sense of value, self-worth and significance, giving hope and supporting individuals as they find new ways forward into meaningful education, training, and employment opportunities.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and creative fundraiser to join our team and help us generate funds to secure long-term sustainability. As a key member of the team you will be responsible for creating and submitting compelling and bespoke funding proposals. You will be required to work on your own initiative to develop persuasive proposals and nurture effective relationships with small, medium and large funders.
The person recruited for this role will also take on key responsibilities for operational management within the charity, liaising with Project Managers and Lead Facilitators at Safe New Futures to ensure we deliver on the projects being funded and that we report back effectively to trusts and organisations as required.
- To create and submit compelling and bespoke funding proposals/ applications to charitable trusts/ foundations.
- To successfully manage and develop a portfolio of existing supporters (including thanking, reporting and identifying upsell opportunities) to ensure long lasting relationships and repetition of grants.
- To undertake prospect research, qualifying suitable new funders for approach.
- To ensure all data related to both existing funders and prospects is kept up to date.
- To work closely with Project Managers/ Lead Facilitators to ensure the accurate and effective delivery of projects that are being funded
- To understand and adhere to all Safe New Futures Policies and Procedures.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties, as required by Safe New Futures management.
To succeed in this role you will need the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, while promoting the values of the charity. Strong written and interpersonal skills are essential, along with experience in a trusts and grants fundraising role.
- at least 2 years of Trusts and Grants Fundraising experience
- Verbal and written communication with both internal and external contacts

The role is three days a week and we are offering it on either an employed basis (£27k pro rata for 3 days) or self employed (£130 a day). We would prefer the successful candidate to be based in our offices at least 2 days a week.
