This National Volunteers’ Week, we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible people who give their time, energy and heart to Safe New Futures.

Volunteers play a vital role in our charity. They help us create a warm, supportive and encouraging environment for the people who come to us, many of whom are facing anxiety, low confidence, unemployment, isolation or difficult life circumstances. For some participants, simply being welcomed by someone who believes in them can be the first step towards feeling hopeful again.
At Safe New Futures, we believe in the power of community. Our work is built around helping people rebuild confidence, recognise their strengths and take positive steps towards education, training, volunteering or employment. Volunteers help make this possible in so many different ways, from supporting courses and workshops to helping behind the scenes with administration, fundraising, events and community engagement.
Some of our volunteers are former participants who want to give back after experiencing the impact of the programme themselves. That is something we are especially proud of. It shows the ripple effect of our work: people who once needed support are now helping others to move forward too.
As one former participant shared:
“Now I want to volunteer, because this course changed my life, and it helped me so much that I would like to give back to someone else.”
That spirit of giving back is at the heart of Safe New Futures.
Our volunteers bring compassion, lived experience, professional skills, patience, humour and encouragement. They help people feel seen, valued and supported. They also strengthen our team and extend what we are able to do as a small grassroots charity.
Whether someone is a student looking to gain experience, a professional wanting to use their skills for good, a retiree sharing years of knowledge, or a former participant ready to support others, every volunteer makes a difference.
This week, we simply want to say thank you.
Thank you to every volunteer who has supported Safe New Futures. Thank you for showing up, listening, encouraging, helping and believing in people. Your time and kindness matter more than you know.
If you are interested in volunteering with Safe New Futures, we would love to hear from you. There are many ways to get involved, and your skills, experience and enthusiasm could help someone take their next step towards a brighter future.
